Nautical nonsense.

I love primary colors.  Sometimes I reach for them without even thinking, the fiery reds, cheerful yellows, and serene blues bewitching me with their bold balance. That, or I have McDonald’s and blue Icees on the brain.  Either way, I unearthed some of my nautical necklaces to accent these crayon box classics. Because summer is about old traditions and new adventures.

And enjoying DayGlo beverages.

Logistically speaking, sunbeams don't scream.  Unless, of course, it's summer, and even then they don't scream so much as scorch the skin of careless beachgoers.  But the phrase sounded good so I used it, despite the winter chill that still stings the air.

To that end, here are some very yellow -- and very boho -- outfits.  I wore the first one to Valentine's dinner with the husband and the other two to run errands.  (I don't run errands often, so when I do, I make the most of it.)  None of the clothes are maternity except for the leggings.  The yellow sweater is one of my favorites, and when I saw myself in the mirror, I thought, yep, you can tell she's really in there.  Which was kind of crazy but also cool.

Even if it did make me fret about someday soon protecting her from the sun.

If it's a marshmallow world in the winter, then it's a honey mustard one in the fall.  And for once I dove right in, weaving old and new molten yellow finds into an autumnal tapestry.  Which, now that I read it, sounds too sophisticated for someone who stuck her head in a wreath that came straight from the attic.  So musty!

On an equally juvenile note, I was excited to make the kindergarten-esque Harvest Corn Barrette Brooch.  I meant to get to it last year but was overwhelmed by the idea of cutting out all those kernels (two sets, because I made one for myself).  Yet it turned out to be kind of soothing.  Which, upon further reflection, is probably why it's designed for candy corn-fueled kids.

Note to self: Buy candy corn.  And, while I'm at it, marshmallows.

If there's no place like home, then there's there's no place for pictures quite like the front porch.  So that's where I am in all four outfits here.  We've got florals and palm trees and even Bigfoot -- even if I thought he was a monkey when I was making the Cuddly Critters Necklace.  It wasn't until I flipped the charm and saw "SASQUATCHIN" on the back that I realized I was in the presence of greatness.  Of course, Satchy's tutu-wearing companion of a fox may have something to say about that.

Never let anyone (not even Bigfoot) tell you that a beast can't be a ballerina.
