Sew Cute Teapot: Happy Birthday, Grandmom

When I was twelve or thirteen, I ordered this sewing machine teapot from Abbey Press (who remembers that catalog?) for my grandmother for Christmas.  She was an incredible seamstress who sewed everything from Christmas stockings to my mom's prom dress. (And hemmed many a pair of pants for yours truly.)  She also enjoyed spending time alone, which made us close because I was (and continue to be) like that too.  Anyway, when I saw this teapot, I knew it was the perfect gift for her.  Almost twelve years ago, she passed away, and the teapot came back to me.  Today is her birthday (she would've been 106), so I thought I'd honor her by posting a picture of it.  I hope that wherever she is, she can see it.

And that she's eating too much Ben & Jerry's while binging Big Brother and Criminal Minds.

The teapot is adorable and sounds like such a thoughtful gift. It is strange when something you selected with so much loves ends up coming back to you. I have a gift that I bought my mom when I was traveling over seas.. It was a piece of jewelry that she loved and now it's mine. Happy birthday to your grandma.

Oh, what a wonderful post! My grandmother's sewing machine looked so much like this. I always felt my gram had being alone down to an art form. And these days, I feel I might be better off staying away from some I have to work with. I just have to learn to keep my mouth shut which is such a hard thing to do. Thanks so much for the endearing post. Thank you for your comments too. Here's to a lovely weekend..BTW I so love the BOB ROSS costume ideaπŸŽƒπŸ‚πŸπŸ‚πŸ–€

Such a beautiful teapot! I love the way you are honoring and remembering your grandmother. It made me smile of what she would bing watch, too!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Oh, if only I had more confidence in sewing. I have ideas but not the best way of making it happen. πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ Thanks so much for your comments. Its always interesting to get others perspectives..through readers or other characters and what they see. Nonnie (which I found from one of my favorite pistachio cracker brands that I can't find anymore) possibly is still asking herself..why me?

Such a great post full of wonderful memories. I love this! Such a creative woman and you are so creative too. Great to know of her. Adoring this teapot too! Thanks so much for today's post!❤️πŸŽƒ❤️πŸŽƒ❤️Thanks so much for reading and your comments. Yes, I feel I miss out on some characters I just can't get to..and then to find out..oh they're depressed..which I feel many are in the same boat these days. Unfortunately. Of course, October is a long month and yet it feels it is almost over. But still more stories to get to, especially about Poppy. Thanks again for being here. Wishing you a lovely October.

Such a sweet post! Oh, the thought of Criminal Minds and Big Brother made me smile. It made me remember how my grandmother would get set to watch one of her favorite 9 o'clock shows and then start snoring ten minutes in. It was great to read about her sewing talents too. Yes, I will admit some of my best-fitting pants were made by my grandmother, too. Thanks so much for doing this. All the best on these sweet memories. I so appreciate this. And in love with that teapot too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for your comments..yes I had to reel Kate back in to the story.

Your grandmother sounds like my kind of woman . I LOVE being left alone to create. I also love teapots, and this one is really a charmer (yes, I do remember that catalog). I'm so happy that it came back to you.
