Out of My Depp: A is for Anchorwoman

Top: Candie's, Kohl's; Skirt (a dress!): Macy's; Shoes: Not Rated, Journeys; Bag: Betsey Johnson, Amazon; Fuchsia belt: Belt is Cool, Amazon; Peach belt: Izod, Marshalls; Blue bangle: So, Kohl's; Lime bangle: B Fabulous; Coral bangle: Silver Linings, Ocean City; Striped bangle: Mixit, JCPenney

Anchors emblazon everything from cardigans to pillows to flesh (I'm talking tattoos).  But just what is it about these nautical notions that charm us into desecrating our homes and decorating our bodies?  Their promise of a glam getaway and/or safe harbor?  Their association with a simpler, more romantic time?  Or is our love for them nothing more than the product of our preoccupation with Popeye?  (All waterways, it seems, lead back to tattoos.)  In the end, all that matters is that anchors are aces.  And that I had a whale of a time incorporating them into this Bright This Ship Necklace:

Because when you go bright, you never go wrong.  Unless, of course, your craft is so colorful that it attracts a posse of pirates who commandeer it for their rutabaga smuggling ring (when it comes to contraband, root vegetables are funnier than rum.)  If that doesn't say piece-of-Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-footage-on-the-cutting-room-floor, then I don't know what does.

Unless it's Johnny Depp dressed as a rutabaga and belting out a ribald riddle.

By the way, I hear that Mr. Depp's bankrupt.  For enough clams, I bet he'd be down.

Oh..such precious puns..indeed! I shall confess my ship has sailed and left Depp on a lonely island...as in one song.."I liked you better when you were poor.." But he did make an awful lot being a dandy pirate.

Love the necklace. So great you are showcasing it here. It goes so well with the outfit. Definitely, sleeveless weather here! We had had a horrible thunderstorm on a Tuesday night that actually made me jump. Then I found out from co-workers..oh that was nothing. I guess I must have slept through the big one that happened over the summer.

I did get a chance to use our Maker's Space at the library and made myself a tee with the new Headers from my story blogs. Thank you so much for your comments! Hope you whip up some great snacks at home. I did make it to an Italian place with a friend, but it was just too cheesy for me. I doubt I ever go there again.

Thanks for enjoying the Jay collage. I was reading up on his face claim Mike Angelo who I guess has finally made it to L.A. He and his brother (who is older and looks identical to him who goes by Golf) started out in Tawain where they are from, but he went on to get more "dramas" and recognition in mainland China. He didn't even know the language and says he'd never learn to write in Chinese, but he learned his lines phonetically. He did show up in some Jackie Chan projects and is in the recent "Misfits". He too, is a young dad.

Such a delicious outfit! You are so fun with your Pirate piece! Thanks for giving me a laugh this Saturday morning. LOVE IT!

Thank you for your comments too. Funny, I have been thinking of "Pixie" for a long while. Naturally, I have a friend whose rescue pup is "Pixie" and she really is quite a character. As for Cyrus..well, on such occasions I have met some pretty guys just to find something a little off. The latest I remember thinking..oh my friend should date him. He knows a lot about computers. He traveled a lot. He's so handsome, but then I found out he lived with his old uncle. Evidently, this officer's son was at his last relative to live with. They just didn't seem to know what to do with him. It was so random that I came to learn this while checking out a book to his uncle. Of course, there are so many who have never been on their own for so many various reasons. What is even more tragic it is harder to be on our own in spite of so much technology.

So glad to see your post. Such a wonderful write-up! Oh, those are the days..pirates! And somebody did make plenty of clams off of the movie series. Too bad Adam Ant didn't make more money off his Prince Charming Album when he was quite charming. But that's another story..=)

Adoring the necklace! Such a cool skirt too!

Thanks so much for reading the interviews. There are many sides to us. Some outlooks might be better at times than others. Initially, Alfie always thought Poppy talked too much. And he really didn't want to talk all that much to her. On the other hand, he thought she has always deserved someone better than him. And this tends to happen a lot from what I've noticed with friends and their relationships.

Frankie..well, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Oh..silly me..I thought of you as I was driving by the Pirate festival at the pumpkin patch (Yeah, I guess its an August tradition around here. I didn't even know. Hope somebody had fun at it. I didn't go.

On another silly note..I messed the dates up on my posts and posted today..and tomorrow too... Here's hoping you had a productive Saturday. And hopefully, some fun too!

What a snazzy outfit!!! I love the 80's-vibes of the skirt and that realistic banana purse is the bee's knees! I totally get the charm of anchors; for me, I always think of the Navy and sailors when I see them. I love that your Bright This Ship necklace has PINK anchors!!! The blue and yellow is a cool combination with the pink. I laughed at the visual of Johnny Depp dressed as a rutabaga!

Great outfit- again the shoes are my favorites but I really like the skirt as well. Never gave much thought to all the places I see anchors- totally forgot about Popeye and his tattoo.

Even though it's mainly black, the accessories make it a very colourful outfit indeed.
