If you flap your wings enough, then you just might land on the last night of 1999.  Big business and government were in crisis mode, desperate to protect their computers while the rest of us prepared for the end of days, Prince's apocalyptical dance party anthem a drumbeat.  Not that I include myself in that us.  On December 31, 1999, I was almost eighteen and far more concerned with the impending horrors of dorm life than the power grid going bust.  But when it came to fashion, I knew what was up.  Which means I was probably rocking butterflies.

I couldn't help but think about that as I raided my brooch box in search of cast-offs to repurpose for new jewelry.  I found two caterpillar candidates, then set about transforming them into butterflies (well, they were already butterflies, but I trust you'll humor my metaphor).  I had a great time making Fluorescent Flight and Sky and Twee with plastic beads shaped like, yes, more butterflies and also fish and dolphins.  And I can proudly say that these are no longer your grandmother's brooches.  Even though my grandma rocked brooches regularly and was as cool as they come, having busted out the air guitar one Thanksgiving while talking about Jimi Hendrix.  Still, the necklaces aren't even my biggest brag.  That would be the Bold Butterfly Barrette Brooch, which is my favorite barrette brooch so far.  Because a butterfly barrette is better than the butterfly effect.

Especially if it takes you back to sharing a bathroom with strangers.

Such a great theme! Oh..1999..well, there was that fear of the unknown. Would it all go dark? No way could I sleep before midnight. And Fireworks in the midst of snowdrifts. But those butterflies..yes, they do bring a certain joy! Such a lovely haul you have. Great shoes to boot! Very inspiring summer love looks!

And such a great memory too of Y2K.hmmm...a lot to think on for sure. Thanks for the wonderful post! It looks like you are on your way to a fun 4th!

Such a summer bliss of a post! Butterflies! Excellent idea 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋 Love those wonderful accessories with such butterfly inspiration. >>>>>>>>>>>> Really, it's been mild here..heat-wise. The fireflies and fireworks are already in full force in our neighborhood. OH, it's funny this Qin made me think of Dr. Quin too! Although, in the latest drama that medical jargin is just a little too much, but sometimes, I feel its that way on a Wednsday night NBC Chicago Medical episode too..yet I know..they want to squeeze in as much info as possible..and frankly, I just don't like those shows. As of late, I have been doing more picture writing from sets I've made for various other 'contest' on URSTYLE. I gotta admit I liked that wig in my Gia Story. Hope you are staying well and all is on good.

Fabulous butterfly post! Such a fun look back too. Adoring your memories! And I love what you got from SHEIN too. So many wonderful treasures! Thanks for your summer inspiration!>>>>>>>>>>Oh, I have to admit, I might be smitten with "Tristan" I guess I love writing about bad boys...so there will more of troublemaker Tristan or does trouble follow him with Jade???? Oh, and the woes of Caitlin. Pregnancy can be so hormonal in so many ways. Although, some would think everyone is getting pregnant on this storyblog. I know for a long while, I didn't want to approach the subject..but... And the banter with Bea and Andie...Sometimes, I just can't help myself. 🦋❤️🦋💛✨ All the best to a beautiful July❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

Thanks so much for making my day💕🌸🌈🌸💕Honestly, I don't have an agenda on my blog, but sometimes, when I see something trending then I start to think about people I know, things that have happened and I guess I run with it..maybe too fast. Unfortunately, we are a worldly bunch and well, always in need of worldly things. But it's always best if you can find a good book, or of course, decide to make something all your own. Especially, a hat or a brooch or maybe a cheese platter. Creativity comes in so many forms. Thanks for your inspiration and of course, your beautiful blog.
>>>>>>>>>>>>on another note, I seem to be a day ahead of myself, although, I'm not sure why, maybe its the 4th weekend..which seems to be out there already happening in the neighborhood. Lots of fireworks going off already. & maybe a thunderstorm tomorrow. Hope you week is going well.

I love the butterfly theme and all the beautiful colorful outfits . The Sam Edelman shoes are over the edge and the hot pink outfit blew me away. Wow- Y2K - I do remember everyone panicking. You are about the age of my older son who was in his 2nd year of college and REALLY profited from the panic. As a software engineer student and great with anything computer related, he was hired by a company on weekends to pull all nighters and prep all the computers in banks, corporations, etc. They flew him to different cities with what I called the swat team of kids. He had a ball, was paid VERY well and stayed in nice hotels. Then nothing actually happened.. crazy!! Anyway - nothing better than butterflies !

This butterfly themed post made my day!!! I adore each and every one of your butterfly pieces, from your necklaces to your accessories. And your clothes! I love the wide variety of butterfly prints you own (those SHEIN tops are so cute!) I can see why the Bold Butterfly Barrette Brooch is your favorite so far - it's absolutely gorgeous! The details and colors are so eye-catching. The black outline of it makes it really stand out, too. Your necklaces...aggghhh!!! Each one is so uniquely different and such a statement. The Fluorescent Fight Necklace is so striking with the elaborate butterfly charm, and the Butterfly Shape Escape Necklace is so beautiful with that clear butterfly and the magnet-shaped charms on each side. The purple and orange really wows! Lastly, your outfit photos are adorable and fun; the way you stylized each outfit, along with your hairstyles are an amazing sight to behold!
