When I was in school, there were the preppy girls and the other girls.  And preppy always meant "dressed up."  It didn't matter if you were wearing a collegiate polo and khakis or a bright pink dress.  If you were pulled together in any way, then you were a preppie.  Just like Zack Morris.

But that label never felt right to me.  Because in the ways that counted, I always felt like an "other."  Partly because preppy girls never talked to me (and yes, that's a reference to Weezer's "Beverly Hills," albeit in a platonic as opposed to romantic way).  Partly because, preferring to be alone, I never talked to them either.

Yet as I got older, it occurred to me that maybe I was a preppie, at least sometimes.  And that that was okay.  Because style is never just any one thing, but a whole bunch of wonderful everythings that in some way, shape, or form, say "I'm here."

And embracing that makes me feel like this:

So that's what today's outfits are all about.  Preppy blouses and skirts mixed with out-there accessories.

Now, if only I could find a Zack Morris-style shirt.  One of his bright tees, of course, not a button-down.

Awesome accessories! Such amazing Betsy Johnson's too! Wow, like art on your feet! Oh, those bright things. Yes, I have made a few squints here and there as if something might be in their eye followed by, "What are you wearing?" And I would so want to slam back, "Do I have to explain everything to you?"

Love the tops and skirts! Oh, it's funny that you mention "Preppy". I feel I am constantly having to have some sort of contest going on Urstyle..and I came up with "Prep it Up" since I couldn't get some k-pop chorus of "Pump it up" out of my head. BUT WAIT..then I had to go to H&M and see what they had to offer in the Preppy category. It's like a lot of beige and some plaid.

Adoring the post! So love your last paragraph! Wearing what you feel good in. Oh, if only I could feel that way in high heels. I still would rather be in my Go-Walks! Of course, I have worn enough high heels in my time. I feel sure. I have ran in them, fell in them and still managed to get back up in them. Oh, and lets not forget dance in them.

Awesome broch! Oh, it's really been a nice weekend here, doing nothing and yet I have. Mainly writing. Yes, my stay-cation! Practically. Hotter weather on the way.

Thanks so much for your comments!

Such a great Post! Oh, how I love these fabrics! Such cool skirts! Love all those wonderful accessories too. I am glad you look so bright and thanks for those side tidbits of nostalgia too! Love how you put your outfits together.

Such a ray of sunshine! So great to see your post!>>>>>>>>>>> Thanks so much for your comments. Oh, it does feel I am in juggling mode when it comes to storylines. But that seems to happen to me from time to time, losing touch with characters that some might wonder why don't you write about them anymore. Well, no one actually says that, but I guess I can imagine it. I couldn't sleep last night so I finally cracked open one my Dollar Tree finds in the book section "Don't I know You", a short story collection by Marni Jackson. In her first story was about a girl who gets help from John Updike for her writing. It was rather clever and I did enjoy some of her quotes. His theory of making the mundane extraordinary and of course, I loved that part.

Thanks so much for reading. Honestly, I wasn't sure where to go, but to look at the little things in J's life. I did have to do a little researching about 'books' he might like. Still, I had to mention Old Yeller. Really though, I just wanted to show there is some depth with those two.

Ahhh, I totally adore these looks!!! The yellow accessories look amazing with the jade and pink colors. The purple plaid skirt is adorable (been wanting a plaid purple skirt like that for a long time!) and the way you accessorized is the cutest. The chunky Purple Potpourri necklace is stunning!! And I enjoyed your take on the "preppy girls" and the "other girls", and how you could see yourself in both categories. "Because style is never just any one thing, but a whole bunch of wonderful everythings that in some way, shape, or form, say "I'm here" - very well said, and the last photo of you certainly encompasses your passion for fashion! :)

Wasn't high school crazy. There was so may criteria necessary to fit in to a group! I use an expression often " that was so high school" - meaning that is so petty and typical of high school age thinking- Any way you are the outfit and accessories queen - a wonderful post with wonderful "preppy" outfits - I love the colors, the styles and how you look in them. So inspiring!

We never had that term here, and thank god that we had a uniform, or uniform matching colours, so blue, grey, white, black. Some days we'd wear what we wanted, and some went all out, dressing as if they were fifty instead of fifteen.
